Dr. Avnish Jolly, New Delhi, 4th March, 2009 :Women drivers in the national capital of India can now seek the city police’s help in case of car breakdown. It is a gift of Women’s Day on March 8, Delhi Police announced that women drivers can now call the police control room (PCR) for assistance at any time, in case of a car breakdown.
Y S Dadwal, Police Commissioner said that women can call PCR – 100 anytime in case of a car breakdown. It will especially help women during the night time if they are stranded and need help and the PCR officials will ensure their safety and will take them to a secure place, he added.
According to senior police officials, men can also seek PCR help if their vehicle breaks down at a secluded place during the night and our men will help them (men) move to the nearest petrol pump in case of a (car) breakdown, the police official said.
