21 Apr : With elections in the capital just a couple of weeks away, the campaigning has picked up momentum with candidates trying everything possible to woo the "elusive voter."
The candidates from Congress and BJP have taken their campaigning to the next level with most of the contestants redoubling their efforts to attract the voters on a day when temperatures crossed 40 degrees Celsius.
Trying to woo the slum-dwellers, Congress candidate from Chandni Chowk Kapil Sibal on Tuesday promised to implement a rehabilitation plan for them in the Pitampura area.
Sibal, who is the sitting MP from Chandni Chowk, had in December last year initiated a similar slum rehabilitation plan for the jhuggi-jhopri clusters in Jailerwala Bagh.
He promised to extend the rehabilitation plan to Pitampura which is a new addition to his constituency following delimitation."It’s a shame that 60 years after Independence, people are still being denied basic living amenities," he said during an informal interaction with the slum-dwellers.
"These living conditions go against the basic human rights of any citizen," he said.
In West Delhi constituency Congress nominee Mahabal Mishra sought vote for the party so that it could carry on with the good work initiated in last five-years.
