5 Jan :The Arunachal Pradesh State govt employees under the banner of (CoSAAP) have reached an agreement with state Finance minister Kalikho Pul on their new pay package and called off their proposed agitation, official sources said.
The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) held a marathon seven-hour long meeting with the Finance minister on Sunday night.
An agreement was reached after Pul agreed to pay two months arrears – one month in cash and another month to be deposited in GPF this fiscal and the rest four months in installments in next two years, sources said.
Over 50,000 government employees and 33,000 casual labourers engaged by the Arunachal Pradesh government were demanding new pay package as per the Sixth Pay Commission recommendation.
Meanwhile, chief minister Dorjee Khandu has expressed relief at the calling off of the agitation by CoSAAP after Sunday’s nights’ settlement with the Finance minister.
