6 July:Sixty students began their academic session in the country’s seventh IIM which was formally inaugurated in Shillong on Friday.The ace business school, named the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management, began its maiden academic session at the temporary Mayurbhanj Complex of the North Eastern Hills University.
Work will soon begin on a 120-acre site for the institute’s permanent campus.The institute offers the Post Graduate Programme in Management, a two year full time programme for graduate students from all disciplines.
Besides, the institute envisages for its flagship programme, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, an annual intake of 60 students, which would be increased to 120 in the third year and 180 in the sixth year.
Fellowship programmes in Management, Tourism, Hospitality, Tele-services, Tele-medicine, Information Systems, horticulture and hydel power would also be offered.
