12 Sep : Parliamentary Secretary, Geology & Mining, Irrigation & Flood Control and Border Affairs, Y. Patton inaugurated the new building of All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) Wokha Unit today the 12th September 2008.
Also gracing the ANSTA Wokha Unit conference as the chief guest, Patton said that due to the sincere efforts of dedicated teachers, our community too has produced intellectual leaders, administrators, technocrats, business entrepreneurs etc.
Expressing concern over the anti-social activities taking place everyday in Nagaland, he said that such trend of life poses great threat to our social existence and felt that the problem be tackled through inculcation of moral discipline in the children at home, school and the church. Stating that teachers are respected both by students and parents alike he urged upon the members of ANSTA Wokha Unit to give the right and positive education to the children, so that they become productive and responsible citizens in the Naga society. “A good teacher is a great model before the students – their dream, their charismatic personality inspiration to become a man in the real world”, he maintained.
He further encouraged the teacher to update their knowledge in modern technologies and electronic media, by attending in-service trainings so that they may be able to cope with their assigned responsibilities and challenges.
He also opined that with the launching of communitization in education, sector and village leaders should put their heads together to give conducive environment for imparting best and quality education to the students.
Patton also remarked that the government schools, though manned by well qualified man-powers are comparatively far behind the private schools. “All the teachers are not to blame for bad result of the students but we should not spare any errant teacher for whose irresponsibility all the sincere efforts of good teachers are discredited”, he added.
He conveyed his appreciation and congratulated all the teachers particularly from Wokha district, who had received District, State and National Level Awards for outstanding service in the teaching profession.
DC Wokha, A. Wopen Lotha in his short speech congratulated the Wokha Unit office bears for their tireless efforts in contribution in completion of the new office building.
