9 June,Kohima: Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Visütha Angami the first civil service officer from Kidima village exhorted the Kidima Students’ Union at Freshers’ Day cum Career Guidance 2008 as the main Speaker at Kidima Community Hall, Midland, Kohima on Saturday 7th June 2008.
Visütha Angami, addressing participants in the occasion said that the real wisdom comes from God alone. He said that there is no substitute for hardwork to succeed in life. He said that the gift of talents are given to every person, whether in education, wealth or power which should be utilized properly.
Resource person Dr. Viral Yore, Deputy Director, Department of Veterinary asked the students to study new avenues like veterinary and allied subjects. He said that the Cabinet has already approved for opening of a Veterinary College in Nagaland, and it will be launch in a short span of time. Dr. Keduzol Ltu, a recipient of Young Scientist Award 2007 and Farm Manager, State Cattle Breeding Farm said that chances favour those who prepare for it. Ltu also challenged the students to hard work full heartedly. Adding to that there is so many jobs outside Nagaland for which student must keep updated with information, he added. Dr. Kedise Pucho, Sr. Lecturer, SIRD asked students to be humble and dedicated in studies. Parents are giving their best for their children so the children must give respect to their parents and theirself with hardwork, he added. Pucho also said that job avenues favor those who work hard. He also cautioned them not to miss the opportunities that may come once in a lifetime. Dr. Adino Vitso, Sr. Lecturer, SIRD said the future of the students are in their hand, so their life goals have to be decided by them, she added.
Keyolenu Yore, who obtained 4 subjects distinction in HSLC 2008 spoke on behalf of freshers and said that their future depends on how parents and elder people guide them. Kekuneil Henry Ltu on behalf of senior students said confidence in oneself is the step to achieve the goal in life. President, KSU delivereing the greeting words asked the students to believe themselves, have determination, self discipline and do good things for the people be successful and happy people in life.
Earlier invocation prayer was pronounced by Tepuwhekho Thokhwe, Pastor KRCE, Kohima. Khriekethozo Pucho and friends presented special number. Highlights of the programme included self-introduction by freshers, interaction cum career guidance followed by community feast. President, All India Freelance Journalists’ Association Dr. E.A. James Smerq also interacted with the students on the occasion. 47 students, 8 in the 1st Division, 17 in 2nd Division and 22 in 3rd Division with a percentage of 83.92% cleared the HSLC exams 2008, from the village. Nongozo Rikha presided over the programme.
