4 Sep : Advisor, IT & Chairman DAN, Vikho-o Yhoshü today launched Video conferencing over VSAT at 3 (three) sites, the Directorate of Information Technology as the Central site and Kigwema and Tuophema as the other two sites.
MLA Vikho-o and Secretary IT, Abhishek had an interaction with the villagers of Kigwema and Tuophema through the VSAT communication technology and highlighted on the facilities like tele-medicine, education etc that can be avail through the technology.
Kigwema Village Chairman, on behalf of the villagers thanked the Chief Minister of Nagaland, MLA Vikho-o, Secretary IT and Project Director IT for the facilities provided to them.
Secretary IT informed that presently the project is being undertaken for demonstration by the Bharti Airtel Ltd. in collaboration with information technology. ‘If the system is viable and beneficial we can go for expansion of the whole facility’, he said. During the 1 (one) month demonstration period, the IT Department will take the initiative for training the youths of the two villagers on the basic concept of computers. A week long theoretical classes through VSAT will be given by the IT resource persons starting from Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. to be followed by the hands on training.
Mridul Barman of Bharti Airtel Limited said that the device can connect many locations over VSAT where facilities like e-health, education and various applications can be availed. ‘Farmers can know about the stock, price of product and have access to all other information beneficial to them’, he informed. Project Director IT, Imsa Naga informed that the fixed initial investment will cost Rs. 2 to 7 lakhs depending of the screen size plus the running cost.
