31 Dec : The newly appointed chairman of Cease-fire Monitoring Group has reviewed implementation of truce ground rules in Nagaland with representatives of the govt and the NSCN(I-M) at Dimapur, an exercise which was held after a prolonged gap.The meeting held on Tuesday at Chumukedima police complex insisted that both security forces and the underground groups should adhere to the agreed ground rules in letter and spirit to create a peaceful environment in Nagaland.
CFMG chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Mandhata Singh told newspersons that the discussion was held in a congenial atmosphere with free and frank observations on the prevailing situation.
There was no accusations and counter-accusations, he claimed.Without divulging much details, the chairman said the government representatives made certain suggestions on how to implement ground rules effectively and the response was positive from the other side.
NSCN(I-M) cease-fire monitoring cell convenor Phungthing Shimrang said the deliberation was congenial and positive.The meeting was attended by among others Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR) Maj Gen Jaiprakash Nehra, IGP K Kire and Nagaland commissioner H K Khulu.
