10 Sep : A three day training on Right to Information began at the Administrative Training Institute, Kimho, Kohima. Over 70 participants, including Appellate Authorities, PIOs, APIOs and other officers from different departments like Police, District Administration, Forest , School Education, Information & Public Relations, Industries & Commerce etc are attending the training.
According to Course Co-ordinator, Worhonthung Ezung, Sr. Lecturer & State Nodal Officer (RTI), the objective of the course is to equip participants about the salient features of the RTI Act, describe the composition, powers and functions of the Information Commissions, and to explain the duties and responsibilities of the PIOs, APIOs and Appellate Authorities. The training is planned in an informal pattern encouraging interaction between the trainers and the participants, most of whom already have experience dealing with RTI applications pertaining to their respective departments. The last day of the training will comprise of group activity on case studies to make the training more interactive and comprehensive.
The three day training programme schedule includes various topics relevant under the Act to be presented by resource persons including Rongsen Longkumer, Charles Kikon, Hovithal N. Sothu, L. Youdang Jamir and W. Ezung.
