Every nation chose a day and observes it as their national day with great importance and festivity. So also the Tenyimi as a people had selected February 22nd and observe the Day as Tenyimi Day. Since the Tenyimi, although are blood brothers and of the same common ancestry, it does not have a common festival falling on the same day. And since, the month from Nov-Feb. is commonly festival season for all the Tenyimi, our pioneers, leaders using their wisdom had chosen February 22nd as the Tenyimi Day..
The Tenyimi people organization is not like other organization, formed at random by a mere affiliation to organization/union of some like-minded tribes or groups. But the foundation and formation of our organization is our common ancestry, and uniqueness of our fraternity is that the same ancestral blood flows in our veins. The entire ten tribes of TPO, namely Angami, Chakhesang, Impui, Mao, Maram, Pochury, Poumai, Rengma, Thangal and Zeliangrong are blood brothers and sisters. Though, we are called by ten different names, the Tenyimi are one entity who shares a deeply rooted cultural heritage and inherent values. Based on our deep rooted natural bond, The Tenyimi peoples’ Organization was formed to protect the welfare of the Tenyimi brothers and sisters and also to foster unity and brotherhood among ourselves as well as the other Naga tribes. I am proud to proclaim that the Tenyimi brothers has realized the truth and what nature has endowed to us and came together as one which no human can undo and will continue for posterity.
And now, I call upon all the Tenyimi people everywhere to endeavor to observe the Tenyimi Day in a befitting manner with the best of your ability, talent, and wisdom so as bring Unity amongst the Tenyimi family.
This is a day for us to forgive, love and uphold one another. It is a day for us to renew and recommit ourselves to march ahead with all walks of life, with synergy.
Wherever it may be, if our day was not being observed earlier, let this Tenyimi Day with God’s blessing be a new beginning for you. I also pray that, may Almighty God grant peace, harmony and prosperity to all the People
In conclusion, I would like to emphasis that, our thinking as a group within the larger Naga family will be always forward looking responsibility and big enough, so that, we encourage hope, goodwill and co-operation among all the Nagas, instead of give a sense of threat to anyone or reason for distrust.
