Kohima,7 July: Minister for Roads & Bridges, G. Kaito Aye and Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports and Land Revenue, K. Naiba Konyak formally inaugurated SDO Civil HQ. Monyakshu as Chief Guest and Guest of honour respectively on 4th July 2008.
In his inaugural speech, G. Kaito Aye described Konyaks as intelligent and peace loving people and said, the advancement of education, Christianity and other developmental activities have reached the Konyak soil very late, which is responsible for its backwardness. The government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio is taking up all measures to develop the backward areas of the state and enumerated the development programmes initiated by the government for the backward people. He asked the people to extend full cooperation to the peace movement to bring permanent peace and unity among the Nagas and added single achievement with one voice is more precious than hundred achievements through violence. He said any government is for the welfare of the people and unless the government is stable there will be no room for development and called upon the people to extent full cooperation and support to the government to provide peace, security and development to the people of the state, adding ‘Development through peace and unity’.
K. Naiba extended his gratitude to the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues for upgrading Monyakshu EAC post to SDO (C). He also thanked the chief guest for gracing the function. He exhorted the people to maintain peace and unity for development of SDO (C), Monyakshu in particular and the Nagas in general.
The President Konyak Union, Khoiwang Konyak in his short speech exhorted the people to forgive and forget election differences and march forward for peace and development of Mon district. Earlier the Pastor, MTBC dedicated the Monolith and the chief guest unveiled the Monolith at SDO’s office complex.
Highlights of the programme included special number by Youngster Band, Changlangshu and cultural dances by representatives of Tamkoang, Wangshu, Pessao and Monyakshu villages. Welcome speech was proposed by Chairman, Village Council, Monyakshu, Sangti Konyak and felicitation by Vice Chairman, ATC. Monyakshu HQ. E. Moba. Head GB, Changlangshu village, Pongchai also spoke at the function. Deputy Commissioner, Mon. Dinesh Kumar, IAS, who chaired the programme pronounced vote of thanks on behalf of District Administration.
