2 june, Kohima : Parliamentary Secretary for Transport & Communication and Mechanical Engineering, P. Dako Phom inaugurated the NST Bus Service at Tamlu, Longleng on 30th May 2008.
Addressing the mammoth gathering at the Tamlu Area Public meeting before the inauguration function, he said that the Bus Service to Tamlu – Longleng is his foremost plan, calling it a result of the people’s unity. He said that the smooth functioning of this service would depend on the people of the area. He also said that the public leaders and village chairman should work jointly with the staff to ensure regular service.
P. Dako Phom also encouraged the public to develop different farms like that of orange, banana and trees etc. so that he can forward their scheme to the Government for subsidy. He also said that the Government of Nagaland has declared 2008 as the ‘Year of capacity building farming year’, adding that this policy is to explore ways and means to make the economy of Nagaland more meaningful both for the farmers and also for the people, who depend on them.
The Parliamentary Secretary also urged the officers and staffs posted at Tamlu Sub-Division to perform their duties positively. He said that without performing duty and drawing salary is a crime. He urged the public to remain united and co-operate with the Government to bring about development works.
The Additional G.M. extended gratitude to the Parliamentary Secretary for taking the initiative for this programme. He said that public should make use of the service as their own property so that its functioning would be smooth. He also challenged the people of the area to support and co-operate with the Parliamentary Secretary for development.
Short speeches were also given by Ex-Minister, P. Phongshak Phom, public leader, Bangtick and Village Council Chairmen from five villages. The function was chaired by public leader, Chingan while presentation was performed by Head D.B./Tamlu, Sham-i. The highlight of the programme included folk dance presented by a cultural troupe from Tamlu Town.
