Kohima ,5 Aug : Parliamentary Secreatry for RD & REPA Pangnyu Phom inaugugrated the approach road from Longsachung village to NH 61 which covers 4.5 Kms on 5th August 2008.
The Parliamentary Secretary while addressing the gathering said that the government is providing various schemes and programmes in the rural areas in order to uplift the economic standard of the people and therefore he called upon all the VDBs to cooperate with the implementing agencies, authorities and also appealed to use the fund judiciously so that development works are properly implemented. He also announced the grant of an amount of Rs 5 lakhs for construction of local marketing sheds and rain water harvesting for Longsachung village.
Short speeches were also delivered by Minister for Agri, Dr. Chumben Murry, Ex-MLA, S. S. Ezung, Addl. Director, Rural Development, Kemp, Deputy Commissioner Wokha, and Commissioner & Secretary, Rural Development, V. Sakhrie.
The other highlights of the programme included folk songs by elderly women group, village elders, Longsachung Students’ union, and Dance Club, Longsachung.
The function was chaired by Project Director, DRDA Wokha, Motsuthung while vote of thanks was proposed by Longsachung Village Council Chairman, Yankhorao Ezung.
