26 Sep : A 5 day North East painting Workshop was held at NEZCC office complex Dimapur from 22nd 26th September 2008 under the theme ‘Cultural Heritage of the North East’. At the valedictory function the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Maongwati Aier said that a writer could reflect the thoughts and ideas in a book but an artist can express the thoughts and ideas in just one painting which is an example of how powerful the artists are of using the techniques of medium of expression.
He also urged the artists from the North East to be more innovative as the region could provide lot of scope for innovation and inspiration to express their thoughts based on its distinctive culture from the rest of the country. He also urged the artists to spread the message of tolerance all over India through their medium of expression.
Director NEZCC, V.Hekali Zhimomi while delivering the vote of thanks said that the main objective of organizing the workshop is to create a platform for the North Eastern artists ans and to give them an opportunity to exhibit their talents as the North Eastern products has a unique market demand even at the international level. She further said that NEZCC would play a felicitator role to give exposure to the artists from the North Eastern states to the outside world.
Altogether 17 artists from North Eastern states attended the workshop and exhibited 34 paintings during the valedictory function.
