30 Sep : The 24th annual session cum triennial conference of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council Youth Department was held from 26th to 28th September 2008 at Khedi Baptist Church, Kohima village, under the theme ‘Launching out deeper’ and hosted by the Angami Baptist Church Council.
All the speakers expressed that Launching out deeper is a call to move from the surface to a deeper and closer relationship with Christ. It is a call to experience spiritual renewal and have a new outlook of the world and society, they said and added that today, the challenges before us are great, including challenges of moral and spiritual bankruptcy, besides challenges of social and economic violence. They also highlighted the other challenges such as HIV/AIDS and corruption, unemployment, unchurched youth and human trafficking. All the speakers encouraged the gathering and urged them to consider all things and to take seriously the call of God in each one’s life and commit oneself to stand up for what is right and just, in obedience to the command of Christ.
The resource persons for the conference included Rev. Zhabu Terhüja, Banuo Z. Jamir, Phutoli Chingmak, Rev. C. Lima Sangtam, Sehu Belho, Mongzeung Mpom and Colo Mero. During the session, the celebrations and exhibitions of different talents hours were also held under N.B.C.C. from 1356 churches from all over Nagaland. Around 2000 youths participated in the three-day conference.
