Kohima,23 June:St. Joseph College Jakhama held its 24th Fresher Day on 21st June 2008 under the theme ‘Arise and Shine’ with Parliamentary Secretary for Sports & Youth Resources and Land Revenue, Naiba Konyak as the chief guest and Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing, Mhathung Kithan, IAS as the guest of honour.
The Chief Guest in his speech exhorted the students to produce good characters, work hard and have the quality to face competitive examinations. He also added that one should learn the unlearned things and advised the students to avoid the habit of drinking alcohol.
The Guest of Honour in his speech also said that the first thing to have in life is to have faith in God, respect parents and teachers while honouring the desired dreams of their parents. He added that having confidence in oneself is beyond religion, to achieve one’s dream is fearing God and keeping faith with God, one should accept the gift that God has blessed each and every one with. He advised the students to take advantage of the college which is one of the best institutes in Nagaland and achieve what one has come for and be successful in life.
A short message on behalf of the seniors was delivered by Sweyievinu Kirha. The highlights of the programme included folk dance by the Lotha Students, St. Joseph College Jakhama, special appearance by Imsurenla and a special song by Amos and friends.
The programme was chaired by President, Students Council, Keluhol Tase and the vote of thanks was delivered by Jonathan Kikon. Director, ATI; Director, Youth Resources & Sports, SDO (C), Jakhama, Village Chairman, elders and Government officials also attended the programme.
