16 Oct : The game of football is universally the favourite to all Nations, races and ages. It is the game of friendship, teamship and unity. It appeals to both sexes and to all ages.
To Nagas, football is a special game to be associated with, since Dr. T. Ao put the Nagas into limelight when in 1948 London Olympics, he captained the 1st Indian Olympic team, as an independent country. Today, we hope our youths will excell and rise to such levels one day. To encourage the youth, the veterans have formed the ‘Nagaland Veteran Footballers Association’ with Mr. K. Kire (IPS – ADGP) as its President. All the Districts shall be forming their respective District Veteran Footballers Associations. Phek, Wokha and Kohima have already formed their Associations.
The Kohima District Veteran Footballers Association was formed with Dr. Nicky Kire (MLA) as its President, Engineer Tali Aier (S.E.) as its General Secretary and Er. Akho Zutso (E.E.) as its Treasurer. The Kohima District Veterans shall play an exhibition match against the Organisers of the NSF Martyrs Trophy.
