Kohima,18 July: The Committee on Public Undertaking, Nagaland Legislative Assembly consisting of MLAs Temjen Jamir, Deo Nukhu, K.L. Chishi under the Chairmanship of MLA Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire undertook an on the spot study tour to Mini Cement Plant at Wazeho and also a visit to Shilloi Lake, a tourist resort, from 9th to 11th July 2008 to acquaint themselves with the functioning of the factory as well as to see the much talked about natural resources of Shilloi Lake, informed Additional Secretary, NLA, Pusanyü Angami. The Additional Secretary and Committee Officer, NLA were also part of the team.
The team inspected the recently inaugurated factory which was upgraded from 50 TPD to 150 TPD (tonnes per day) which is presently under trial run. They also visited the Decorative and Dimensional Stone Plant, where they were apprised of the working system of the plant. They had interaction with the officers and staff of Wazeho Cement Plant. At Shilloi Lake the Committee had an interaction with the Phokungri Area Public Organisation and expressed their appreciation to the organisation for their efforts in maintaining the Lake.
The Committee observed that mineral deposits are viable to sustain economy in the state to a certain extend. The Shilloi Lake with its natural beauty and splendour attracts many tourists from both within and outside the state. The Committee observed that to make it more attractive, it is strongly felt that the government should take up the connecting roads, provide potable water, electricity and BSNL tower at Phokungri which will go a long way in making the place more attractive and a ‘must visit’ spot in Nagaland which will also help the economy of the surrounding villages. The Committee has also appealed to all government department officials and staff to visit the Lake and contribute in any way to make it ‘the most attractive tourist spot’.
