kohima,26 May : LPG distribution function for Wakching constituency was held at town hall, Wakching town, on 22nd May 2008 with Minister for Forest, Ecology, Environment & Wild Life, M.C. Konyak as the Chief Guest.
In his address to the people of his Constituency, the chief guest thanked them for their support and re-electing him for the second consecutive term. He pointed out that as a Minister, his duty and responsibility is not confined to his home constituency alone but he is also concerned for development of the whole of Nagaland, and asked his people not to think otherwise when development takes place in other parts of the State under his department.
Thanking the people for maintaining peace and harmony in the district particularly at Wakching area, the Minister called upon them to uphold the principles of peace and spirit of unity to pave way for more development. He also exhorted the people to extend full co-operation to the government and maintain good relationship with the government officers.
Referring to the memorandum submitted by the area people, he assured to look into their grievances provided funds are utilized judiciously and public properties are protected and looked after properly by the people. He added, ‘Good government means good people’. The Minister also gave away the symbolic LPG set to each village under Wakching area.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Neposo Theluo in his speech stressed on the importance of forestry and ecological balance. He exhorted the people to save fuel (wood) for protection and conservation of forest in Nagaland.
Special song by GHS Wakching, distribution of symbolic LPG set to every village under Wakching and presentation were the highlights of the function. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dr. C.L. Goel, IFS, Principal Conservator of Forest, who chaired the programme. Short speech was delivered by the Chairman, Wakching village. Chief Conservator of Forest (M&E) I. Panger Jamir, IFS pronounced the vote of thanks. The meeting was attended by C. L. John, MLA, District officers, NGOs, political and public leaders, besides the general public of Wakching area.
