Kohima, 2 July:The State Level District Vigilance & Monitoring Committee meeting was held on 1st July 2008 at Dimapur under the Chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP, Wangnyuh Konyak.
The Committee discussed agenda on implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes in the state such as SGSY, IAY, NREGA under Rural Development Department, Drinking Water Scheme under PHE, PMGSY under PWD, Total Sanitation Project and land development under allied departments. The members deliberated on various issues and decided that all members of DVMC should attend the quarterly meeting without fail and that the members should submit performances report in detail. The members also decided that any problem preventing developmental projects should be brought to the notice of the committee.
While speaking to the media, Wangnyuh Konyak said that all development funds comes from the Rural Development Ministry and subsequently given to the concerned departments for implementation of the project. He said that it is the duty of the DVMC to send the minutes to RD Ministry. Further, he said that in all centrally sponsored schemes the state share is 25%. When asked about implementation of NREGA the MP said that the scheme was first implemented in Mon district a few years ago but now all districts have been covered under the scheme.
