16 July: The Kohima District Planning & Development Board recommended 15 schools for grant-in-aid during the monthly meeting held on 15th July at DC’s Conference hall, Kohima. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chairman, Kohima DPDB, MLA Nicky Kire.
The Schools included Grace School, New Ministers Hill, Kohima, Genesis School, Upper Chandmari, Kohima, Radiant School, Phezocha, New Secretariat Colony, Stella Higher Secondary School, Mt. Sinai School, St. Joseph’s School, Chandmari, Kohima, Holy Family School, Baptist Mission School, Jotsoma, St. Paul School, Phesama, Schola Lojes High School, Kohima, Christian Mission School, Sechü, G. Rio School, Kohima, CD King School, Jotsoma, St. John Bosco School, Khonoma and St. Andrew School, Jotsoma. The meeting also recommended Radiant School Phezocha, New Secretariat Colony and St. John School, Merhülietsa, Kohima for upgradation in addition to the upgradation of GMS Chandmari to Government High School.
Deliberating on the agenda of one-time grant to Ura Academy, MLA Nicky Kire said that such a decision need consultation with the elected members of the districts of Peren and Phek. The Ura Academy had asked for consideration of a one-time grant of Rs. One lakh from each constituency under the districts of Kohima, Phek and Peren for promotion of Tenyidie literature. The meeting also directed the District Education Officer, Kohima to examine the case of the request from the T.M. Government High School, Kohima for procurement of office furniture from the Common Pool.
ADC, Chiephobozou initiated a discussion on the memorandum of the Chiephobozou Town Committee to the State Chief Minister during his visit to the sub-division on 7th July. The memo pointed out a number of construction projects of various departments in the sub-division including a number of creations of posts under various offices in the sub-division. The matter was deliberated upon at length and the meeting decided to write to the various departments to submit proposals for the same.
Earlier in the meeting, the District Agriculture Officer, Kohima submitted the District Plan and Vision Plan Document for Kohima District. Deputy Commissioner, Kohima & Vice Chairman, DPDB, Sachopra Vero read out few guidelines for the DPDB members and urged them to be regular in attendance and also maintain punctuality.
MLA Nicky Kire called upon the members present to express their views in various agenda discussed and also to bring their own departmental agenda for deliberation in the meeting. He urged upon all the members to actively participate in the discussions so that fruitful results can be obtained.
