The magnificent and imposing traditional Northern and Southern two gates of Khuochiezie (local ground) Kohima, was formally inaugurated on 20th February 2012 by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie as the chief guest and guest of honour.
Inaugurating the traditional gates, Neiphiu Rio said that this is a blessing the Nagas has received from God. He said that coming through this gates Naga people will unitedly work together more closely as symbolised by the stone pillars standing together. He also said that these gates are not only entrance to the ground but they stand for as the Nagas working unitedly for the welfare of the society. They also stand for prosperity and the protection of Naga people.
Both the Chief Minister and the Speaker encouraged the Kohima citizens the need to take necessary steps in maintaining and keeping the traditional gates in good shape.
Executive Director Angami Baptist Church Council, Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyü and Senior Pastor Baptist Mission Church Rev. Kiezotuo Zhale invoked God’s blessing in the traditional gates inauguration.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima Beiu Angami and Kovi Meyase chaired the traditional gates inauguration programme.
