16 Sep : The Kerala Club Kohima celebrated Onam festival at Heritage Complex (Officers Hill), Kohima on Sunday 14th September, 2008. Onam is a harvesting festival of Malayalis, irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The kind personality of king Mahavibali is believed to visit all households of Keralites during the Onam festival. Lighting of the traditional festival lamb, cultural show, sports competition and merry making as well as felicitation to the HSLC 2008 5th rank holder Kittu Babu from NBSE 2008 with cash and citation were the highlights in the occasion. Vice President Samuel Kozhy unfurled the club flag. The Onasadya (Onam Feast) traditional vegetarian food for the day was also served in banana leaves during the community feast on the occasion. Professor K. Kannan, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University and C.J. Ponraj, IAS, Principal Secretary, P&AR and Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland and other dignitaries also attended the feast.
