26 Sep : The two-day IPR Officers Conference cum Capacity Building Orientation concluded on 25th September 2008 at the IPR Citadel, Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Nagaland, Kohima. The two-day programme was organized to re-orient the District Public Relations Officers, Sub-Divisional Information Officers and the Information Assistants, besides the Directorate officials on the functions and duties of IPR officials, in keeping with the state government’s ongoing ‘Year of Capacity Building’ programme.
Joint Director, Pausui Zeliang, gave an introduction to the concept of capacity building. He said that capacity building is much more than training and include human resource development, equipping individuals with the understanding, skills and access to information, knowledge and training that enables them to perform effectively, besides organizational development and institutional development framework development. He also highlighted salient aspects of planning, budgeting and accounts during the first session. Deputy Director (Technical) Tokishe Sema highlighted the basics of Public Address System, photography and Wide Area Network to the participants.
During the second session, Joint Director, Chipeni Merry gave an overview of the Right to Information Act 2005 and practical tips for the guidance of the APIOs. She also spoke on important aspects of departmental publications. Deputy Director, Limawati Ao highlighted the basic principles and concepts of Public Relations relevant to the department. Deputy Director, Dominic Yazokie, while summing up the two day programme urged all the officers and officials to practice what they have learned from all the speakers during the two days programme.
