KOHIMA,31 JULY : The Kohima Ao Union is celebrating ‘Tsüngremong’ festival on 2nd August 2008 at Naga Heritage Complex, Kisama at 10 a.m. with State Home Minister, Imkong. L. Imchen as the Chief Guest. ‘Tsüngremong’ festival, which falls on the first week of August every year is celebrated by the Aos to seek God’s blessing for a rich harvest.
Speeches will be delivered by Minister for PHE, Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao, MLA, I. Imkong and President, Kohima Watsu Union, Temsuinla. Welcome speech will be delivered by President, KAT, I. Meyionen Jamir while invocation prayer will be pronounced by Pastor, KABA, Rev. M. Asangba and benediction prayer by Associate Pastor, KABA, Rev. T. Chuba.
Highlights of the programme will include ‘Tsüngremmong’ folk songs by Kohima Watsu Union, Ungma Village Union, Kohima and Mopungchuket village Union, Kohima; ‘Kimak’ folk songs by Mokokchung Union, Kohima and Chuchuyimlang Village Union, Kohima. ‘Tsüngremong’ folk dances will also be presented by Merangkong Village Union, Kohima, Waromong Village Union, Kohima, Mangmetong Village Union, Kohima. The celebration will be followed by the ‘Tsüngremmong’ feast.
The Kohima Ao Union welcomes all to attend the festival and informed all the Aos to attend the festival without fail in full traditional attires. The Union also informed that transportation will be made available to all the colonies at their respective colony/ward junctions and further stated that the departure to the venue will start from 9 a.m.
