19 Nov :The Nagaland Adventure and Motor Sports Association held a press conference for the Hornbill Festival Motor Rally at Dream Café on Monday. Senior Officials Convenor for Hornbill Festival Motor Rally 2008 and General Secretary NAMSA, V. Abu Metha stated that the Nagaland Adventure and Motor Sport Association in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland and J.K Tyres, is organizing the rally for the second time coinciding with Hornbill Festival.
Abu Metha highlighted that the last year motor Rally and said that it was very successful with participants from different parts of the country and the north east states too. He said during the closing ceremony of the programme last year, Chief Minister has declared that this motor rally will be a permanent fixture of the Hornbill Festival and with that Chief Minister’s commitment the motor rally is being organized even this year. Abu said this year’s rally would be bigger than what was in the past. The rally is organized in the format of time, speed and distant (TSD) which is very important and popular in motor rally.
Abu Metha also said that this motor sports rally will be promoted among women and ladies and the organizers are organizing ladies’ prizes, special prizes for corporate sectors, special prizes for government departments and central agencies and participating friends.
On behalf of NAMSA and Government of Nagaland he appealed to all sports lovers and motor sport enthusiasts to come forward and participate in this event. He disclosed that this event next year will take the shape of a national event and also said this event is being organized in partnership with Federation of Motor Sports Club of India, which is the governing body of motor sports in the country. The NAMSA is affiliated with this federation and has been given the license to organize such events anytime. He said the rally would start from Kohima and touch Dimapur and back to Kohima for the closing ceremony at Kohima. He said that representatives and observers from J.K. Sports and FMSCI would come as technical observers of the rally and give technical assistance during the rally.
Abu Metha said that the motor rally event will start from Indira Gandhi stadium Kohima on 5th December at 6:30 a.m and it will end at the same destination. Abu said Hornbill Motor Car rally winners would be sent to national motor rally. The first five winners will be awarded with two trophies and cash prize of Rs. 40,000/-, 30,000/-, 10,000/- and 5,000/- and the winners of two wheelers will be awarded with two trophies and cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-, 16,000/-, 12,000/-, 8,000/- and 4,000/-.
