19 June:Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen accompanied by Minister R & B, Kaito, Minister for School Education, Nyeiwang; Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Dako Phom, Parliamentary Secretary, Dr. K.C. Nehoshi; Parliamentary Secretary, S. Pangnyu Phom; Chairman NIDC, Mr. Nuklotoshi; MLA Shetoyi Sumi; Commissioner Nagaland, H.K. Khulu and Secretary Home, T. C. Sangtam visited Mon on 16th June 2008 and held a joint meeting with the District Administration, Police Department, DBs & GBs NGOs and Public Leaders of Mon district at DC’s Conference Hall.
Addressing the joint meeting, the Home Minister called upon the district administration and The Police department to maintain and implement the cease fire ground rules strictly and deliver justice to the people as per the law of the land.
He also called upon the DBs, GBs and the NGOs of Mon district to act as diplomats between the various underground factions for lasting peace and harmony in the state. The Minister also appealed to the Naga Underground factions to adhere to the Cease-fire Ground Rules and stop killing innocent civilians and among themselves. The Minister donated Rs. 50000/- to the GBs & DBs union Mon, Rs. 25000/- to the Konyak Union, and Rs. 25000/- to the KNSK.
President Konyak Union, Khoiwang thanked and extended gratitude to the team for their concern and initiative for peace and unity and said that Konyak Union always stands for peace, unity, and reconciliation of all Naga underground factions. Commissioner Nagaland, H.K. Khulu, President DBs & GBs Union Mon Town, Sahlem and Ex- MLA, John also spoke at the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by ADC Mon, Neposho Theluo who also said the welcome address and vote of thanks.
