Kohima,7 July: Home Minister Imkong L. Imchen inaugurated EAC Hq. Ngoungthung under Noksen SDO (C) in Tuensang district on 5th July 2008. The chief guest while delivering the inaugural speech said that DAN government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio is taking up infrastructural development as its top priority. He said that it is the agenda of the government to develop backward areas for which EAC Hq. Ngoungthung was also created.
Imkong Imchen added that inaugural of the EAC Hq. is not an end but rather it is the start of a new journey for people of the area. He stressed that in order to achieve the desired infrastructural development for the EAC Hq., the area people should cooperate with the government and its administration and maintain unity. He said that the state Government has issued order to the administration and police forces to carry out their duties for security and safety of the public. He also urged the people to take equal responsibility with the government to maintain peace in Nagaland as the government is people’s government. The chief guest donated Rs. 1 lakh towards Sangyoghung Range Union and Rs. 5000 each to four dancing troupes.
Minister for Soil & Water Conservation and Land Resources Development, P. Longon, also speaking on the occasion said that the DAN government has created EAC Hq. Ngoungthung based on the present government’s policy to develop backward areas. He also opined to enroll their representatives and NPF party in future for all round development in area. He said that it is a realization of the dreams and long standing desire of the people. He urged the people to cooperate with the government and administration in taking up infrastructural development. MLA, S. Chuba, President CKE and Vice President C.M. Chang also delivered short speeches and expressed their happiness and gratitude towards DAN government, under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, for creation of new EAC Hq. Ngoungthung.
The Inaugural function was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Y. L. Jami. Welcome address was delivered by SDO (C) Noksen, Akumla Chang. Vote of thanks was proposed by President SRU, B. Among. Dedicatory prayer was offered by Pastor, DEF Tuensang, Rev. Somba. Highlights of the programme included unveiling of monolith by chief guest, special number by P. Akong and party and folk dances by troupes from four villages followed by a grand feast.
