30 Oct : The 42nd Annual Prize Distribution cum Parting Social day of Kohima College Kohima (KCK) was graced by Chairman KVIB and MLA, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire as the chief guest at the college auditorium on 30th October 2008.
Speaking at the function Dr. Nicky Kire urged upon the students community that they should not only ponder about the present economic crises and their studies but also to generate their talents and plan their success while they are at the learning stage as students. He encouraged them to speak to the public and learn about different kinds of things from the public to build up their confidence. He also said that students after passing out their matriculation exam should be guided in the right direction by parents and teachers and explore alternative means of employment to solve the unemployment problem. He regretted that after joining college some of the students do not care for their lives, and said that students should be aware of the incurable diseases like HIV/AIDS during college life. Dr. Nicky Kire urged the students to strive for the best and vie with the competitive world. While requesting the students to burn the midnight oil in their studies, he also added that students should learn at least a new word from the dictionary every day. He requested the college authority to bring about ways to help students in preparing for their future. He appreciated the contribution of the founders of the college and also the students for upholding the reputation of the college.
The chief guest also gave away prizes to the students who secured good position in different activities. Principal, KCK, C. Khalong Ao, who gave the keynote address challenged the students to pursue different activities and have the vision to go on to new horizons. He apprised the students to make Kohima the best location for learning rather than going outside for studies.
Speeches on behalf of the outgoing students and remaining students were given by Kevisan, CR BA-III and Kezhasezo Sechü, Vice President KCSU. The highlights of the programme included special songs presented by the outgoing students and dances by Free Style group. A special prayer for the outgoing students was invoked by Pastor, Bethesda Church, Vikeduo Üsou. The annual report was given by General Secretary, KCSU, Kedilhou Yhome. The function was chaired by Lecturer, Aien while invocation was pronounced by President, EU-KCK and vote of thanks was delivered by Games & Sports Secretary, KCSU, Vilhousielie.
