15 July: Mon district Planning & Development Board meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman Dinish Kumar, IAS, on 15th July 2008 at D.C. conference hall, Mon.
The meeting started with self introduction by the new officer, followed by welcome address by the Chairman, Minister for School Education Nyeiwang Konyak. In his address he said that for speedy development of Mon district, new IAS officer have been posted to take charge of the Deputy Commissioner, Mon and exhorted the officers to be stationed in their posting place for the welfare of the people.
Reviewing the last meeting minutes, the house approved and recommended the following proposals: Up gradation of Paramount High School, Aboi to Higher Secondary School; opening of new GPS Sector ‘B’ at Mohong village; opening Of new school Eklavya Model Residential School, Tizit and opening of new RD Block at Aboi and Angjangyiang.
The Chairman also asked the members to submit the telephone numbers and mobile numbers of the heads of the offices. He also said that, special DPDB meeting for approval of LADP programme will be held very soon which would be intimated to the members. He also informed the developmental departments to prepare annual works and action plan before special DPDB Meeting to avoid duplication.
For the selection of schemes under Common Pool the house discussed at length and finally resolved to reserve Rs. 10, 0000/- (Rupees Ten lakhs) for the DPDB. The reserved funds will be utilized for common purpose on genuine cases for the welfare of the public. The Board also discussed for formation of Officers Club, Mon. In this regard the house constituted five member committee for selection of office bearers of the Officers Club, Mon.
District Agriculture Officer, Mon, N. Thungjamo Lotha while presenting his departmental activities said that five Agriculture Link Roads in Mon district were taken up during the 10th five year plan. The works are almost completed except in some portions where culverts and cross drains are to be completed. Under NWDPRA (National Water Shed Development Project for Rained Area) he said 12 projects have been taken up under Mon district for a period of 5 years duration staring from 2007. It is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme and the activities completed so far under this programme are:
– Construction of 12 Nos. of BCK (Berani Chitra Kendra) halls completed one in each project.
– Construction of 12 Nos of Mali Huts is completed in each project.
– A total of 12 Malis and 12 Project Chowkidars have been recruited from the areas under the programme.
The Chairman also requested the DFO (Forest) and DVO (Veterinary) to present their department activities in the next meeting and asked the officers to mention detail amount sanctioned for any project while presenting their developmental activities. The DC also informed the house that, he will visit Mon and Chui village on 24th July and 6th August respectively and requested the concerned officers to accompany him during the tour. The meeting ended with vote of thanks by the Chairman.
