6 Nov : In view of the mass social work to be held on 8th November, 2008, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Sachopra Vero convened a meeting of the Colonies Panchayat Chairmen, Youth presidents, GBs, KMC members and Sector Magistrates this afternoon at DC’s Conference hall.
Addressing the gathering the Deputy Commissioner said that the social work has been organized keeping in view of the upcoming Hornbill Festival, the Korean Music festival and other associated festivities. He directed all the Panchayat Chairmen, GBs, Youth Presidents to actively participate in the social work and also to mobilize their respective colony public to do the same. He said that unauthorized pigsties, temporary urinals and toilet sheds on the roadside should be removed. Paintings and renovations of shop establishments by shopkeepers and the house owners, particularly within the main bazaars in the town, are to be carried out. The trucks assigned by the Kohima Minicipal Council shall pick garbage from all the colonies.
The meeting also deliberated at length on the measures to be taken up to keep the Capital Town clean. Discussions were also initiated by the representatives from various Colonies where they outlined various grievances faced by the public of their respective Colonies and urged the Deputy Commissioner to look into the problems and instigate solutions.
