3 June,Dimapur:In view of traffic congestion in Dimapur, the Dimapur district administration held a meeting with the Principals and Administrators of three schools – Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Christian Higher Secondary School and Saint Mary Montessori and High School on 2nd June 2008 at DC’s Office chamber. Authorities of these schools were invited because traffic congestion occurs during school hours, as these schools are located near the main roads of the town.
Deputy Commissioner, Maongwati Aier, while thanking the Principals and Administrators of the schools for their cooperation, stated that Dimapur district administration will play a pro active role for better traffic and better road in order to minimize traffic congestions during the peak hours in the town area. He also assured that for solution of traffic congestion any plan put forward to the Government will be approved as the Chief Minister himself is very sincere for solving traffic problems for Kohima and Dimapur.
All the three administrators agreed to open new exit routes in their respective schools and during the meeting it also decided that a technical proposal will be put forward to the Government and the work will be executed by DMC members deputed for traffic. During the meeting DC also disclosed that the district administration has banned the entry of any heavy vehicles inside the town during day time. Heavy vehicles will ply the route from Signal Angami via Sub-Urban to Ao kashiram village for exit.
Dimapur district administration along with DMC members visited St. Mary’s Montessori and High School for spot verification for feasibility of exit route from Naga Bazaar. Beside the district administration, the meeting was attended by Adl. SP Dimapur V. Z. Angami, Deputy SP (T) N. Yanger Aier, Holy Cross Higher Secondary School Parish Priest Fr. Chacko, Principal Christian Higher Secondary School Aheto Sumi, Administrator, St. Mary’s Montessori and High School P.K Dutta, Convenor, Traffic DMC members G. Kits and T. Lotha.
