Kohima ,4 JULY: Nagaland Chief Secretary, Lalhuma has issued an instruction to all departments to ‘desist’ from making frequent requests to the Accountant General’s office for cancellation of scheduled audits in their respective departments at the last moment/hour saying that cancellation of such scheduled audits at the last moment causes great inconveniences to the Audit department of the AG office.
Lalhuma, in a circular to all Heads of Departments, said that ‘unless otherwise under extremely pressing and unavoidable circumstances’, departments should desist from making such requests to the AG from now onwards for cancellation of scheduled audit programme.
Concerned over the frequent cancellation of audits in various departments the AG office earlier wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary requesting him to issue necessary instructions to all departments so that the scheduled programme of audit may not be resorted to for cancellation.
The letter to the Chief Secretary disclosed that many departments are forwarding requests for cancellation of audit at the last moment on the grounds like ‘leave, excess work pressure, unable to trace out documents etc’, even though the programme for taking up the audit of individual units/departments are being drawn up on a quarterly basis and intimated to the units concerned well in advance to enable the unit/department to keep their records ready for audit.
