29 Sep : World Elders Day will be observed on 1st October 2008 at Kohima under the theme ‘Elders contribution to society’. State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will grace the programme as the chief guest. At 7 a.m. Advisor NSCF, O. Kathipri will flag off the senior citizens march from Red Cross Complex, Kohima to the official residence of Chief Minister, where a meeting will be held at the State Banquet hall.
The programme will be chaired by Chairman, NSCF, H. Hesso while State Chaplain, Rev. Deo Vihienuo will say the invocation prayer. Welcome address will be given by Vizonyü Theünuo, Retd. Director, Soil & Water Conservation. Secretary’s report will be given by Dr. R. Zinyü. Talitsüba, Retd. Director, School Education will highlight ‘National policy on older persons’. This will be followed by speech by the chief guest Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. Vote of thanks will be proposed by Executive member NSCF, C.T. Rengma. A Naga lunch will be hosted by lady wife of Chief Minister Kaisa Rio after the programme. The NSCF has requested all senior citizens of Kohima to participate in the programme.
