KHONSA,30 May: The newly created EAC Hq. at Khonsa under Pungro Sub-Division of Kiphire district was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio on 29th May 2008.
During the inauguration programme the Chief Minister said that DAN government is progressing fast in all activities, specially for development of backward areas. He asked the general public to co-operate with the government and forget the misunderstandings of the last election. In his speech he also exhorted the public of Kiphire to co-operate with Parliamentary Secretary CAWD Torechu as the rightful leader for Kiphire district and praised his efforts for speedy development under Kiphire district.
Rio also assured that his government will give top priority to develop Kiphire district in various fields. Rio observed that the area was rich in natural resources and mineral deposits and that there is vast potential to promote tourism sector. He said that with the cooperation and support from the people there is no reason why development cannot be realized. He asked the public to preserve the rich resources, specially Saramati mountain and wild life sanctuary. He encouraged the land owners of the area to co-operate with the government in all developmental activities. He further urged the youth to work hard and contribute towards the progress of the state. He assured the public that the government will construct one EAC Hq. building and one rest house as early as possible. He also donated Rs. 1.55 Lakh.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire Yantsowo. The programme was attended by all heads of offices, political leaders, NGOs and public. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Forest Minister, M.C. Konyak, Parliamentary Secretaries Y. Patton, S. Heno, Torechu and MLA Kipili Sangtam.
