Kohima , 5 Aug : The Administrative Training Institute, Kohima has conducted several courses on Right To Information for the Public Authorities (information provider). According to Course Co-ordinator on RTI, W. Ezung attention is being shifted to the information seeker.
A number of activities are being undertaken at ATI to promote awareness on the Act that include translation of RTI Act into local languages (Tenyidie, Ao, Lotha and Sema) and publishing of a pamphlet on ‘Citizens’ Guide to RTI’. Besides these, a Handbook on RTI for PIOs, APIOs, Appellate Authorities and Public Authorities has been published and is being used in all training courses.
The ATI has also started auditing the proactive disclosure of the Public Authorities in the State. A Directory of PIOs, APIOs, Appellate Authorities and Public Authorities is being published. The Institute is also planning to conduct an Information Fair shortly. It has also conducted TOTs (Training of Trainers) for Dimapur and Mokokchung districts in 2007. The Information Commission and ATI are of the view that unless citizens are made aware of the RTI Act, it will not be successful as the RTI is for the citizen (information seeker).
