23 June:A programme to commemorate anti-Malaria month 2008 was held on 20th June 2008 at Chief Medical Officer’s conference hall, Phek.
Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Anden chaired the function. In his Chairman remarks, he gave thanks to the medical department for observing Anti-malaria month which is an urgent need to create awareness among the masses. While lauding the Phek Town Councilors, public leaders, GBs and Colony chairmen for attending the programme who are to play vital roles in the successful implementation of malaria control, he said that people need to maintain civic sense in order to reduce mosquito breeding by cleaning their surroundings.
Chief Medical Officer Phek, Dr. S. Hangsin in his keynote address on the slogan for the year ‘No body should not die of malaria’, called upon the people to take proper treatment and to protect from mosquito bites.
DMO (Malaria), Phek Dr. N. Kire said that with the increase of global warming malaria disease may increase unless we take more precautionary measures to control vector borne diseases. He said that active participation of the people is needed to reduce vector borne diseases and called upon the people to keep their surroundings clean, and remove stagnant water as mosquito breeds in water. He also spoke on the importance of DTT spray and use of mosquito net.
Dr. Yelo (MO) Phek in his speech highlighted the symptom of malaria disease and how malaria parasite can be detected and preventive measure can be taken.
