14 Nov : In an effort to celebrate children’s day in its true spirit, Amway Opportunity Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Amway, India Enterprises Pvt Ltd, unveiled project Sunrise on 14th November 2008 at Town Planning Office, Dimapur. This project is part of the global welfare initiative for less privileged children. AOF will partner Ebenezer Orphanage Home, for a three year period.
At a formal function, Area Manager, North East Amway Enterprises Pvt Ltd Bickramjit Paul flagged off the project by presenting a vocational cum entertainment zone to the founder Director of Ebenezer Orphanage Home, Akum Amri in presence of the children and AOF representatives.
As part of the celebration on children’s day, AOF Members also spent the day with the orphans of Ebenezer at the plush greeneries of Green Park at 4th mile Dimapur.
Director of Ebenezer informed that the Orphanage Home started on 26th July 2005 with just three children but now it has twenty two children drawn from the states of West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal and Nagaland. He further said that the project has been set up to provide a refuge to the children bereft of their parents and near and dear ones. The orphanage provides educational facilities and health care service besides introducing them to the mainstream of life and in the same time helping them to become self reliant.
The other highlights of the programme included presentation of puppet shows, Bible recitation, songs and dances by the Ebenezer orphanage Home children.
