16 Sep :The 4t NE Business summit concluded in Guwahati today. The Summit generated a high degree of investment interest in the corporate world. 247 Expressions of Interests from 64 companies were received , this is almost double the number of EOIs generated in the last session.Of the 247 EOIs 64 are from Assam,45 from Arunachal Pradesh,34 from Meghalaya,19 from Tripura,17 from Manipur,26 from Mizoram ,27 from Sikkim and 15 from Nagaland.
Agro& Food processing sector received 65 EOIs, tourism over 50,Infrastructure over 70, Information Technology over 30 and Manufacturing sector got 12.
An MOU was also signed between Indian Chamber of Commerce and its Bangladesh counterpart to focus on promotion of trade in NE region. Speaking in the concluding session the Guest of Honour Mr. Farooq Sobhan , Former High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India and Former Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh said that there should be Air and Bus Service between Guwahati and Dhaka. He also suggested that the Customs procedures between the two countries should be simplified to promote trade.
The concluding day of the Summit had sessions on Infrastructure Enhancement in NE,opportunities in Tourism Sector,Thailand-India Business Oppotunities,Agro& Food Processing advantage and Information Technology & Skill Development.
