Kohima,25 June: Joint Director, Youth Resource & Sports, Nagaland, Arupe Zeliang graced the ‘Soccer for Christ Championship’ for children under 15 (fifteen) of Peren district on 23rd June 2008 at GHSS ground, Jalukie. The championship is being organized by Kingdom Stewards.
After unfurling the flag the chief guest in his address congratulated the organizers for organizing such a tournament for children, giving young ones the opportunity to expose their talents and also prepare them for higher level competition. He urged the young players to dedicate themselves to the Lord who has given them good physiques and good talents and also to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.
Master of ceremonies was Peidoding, Kingdom Steward. Invocation was pronounced by Executive Secretary, RBA (N), Rev. H.M. Gongmei. The welcome song was presented by Kingdom Stewards and welcome address and introduction speech was delivered by Director, Kingdom Stewards, Mongzeung Mpom. He said that Kingdom Stewards is an active ministry based on games, sport, music, education etc, consisting of 64 members. He also urged the players to glorify the Lord by displaying the skills and talents that God has given them.
Special song was presented by Sunday School Department, Jalukie Town Local Baptist Church and short speech was delivered by Gaubeu Rangkau, Chairman, Jalukie Town Council. A choreography was presented by Kingdom Stewards.
Oath taking was administered by Kedalubo, Sports in-charge, Kingdom Stewards. Parade inspection was followed by declaration of the Championship open by the chief guest. Altogether 21 teams are participating in the tournament. The chief guest donated the Running Trophy and sports goods.
