The Kohima Press Club founded in 2001 observed its 11th foundation day at their conference hall Kohima today the 20th January 2011 with Additional Secretary (Finance), Kikheto Y. Sema as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Kikheto called for concerted effort to rebuild our society as leaders in our own profession. Terming the media as the watchdog and mirror of our society, he urged upon them to continue with the quality of news asking the media persons to stress more on the rural areas, since they comprise more than 80% of the total population in the state. He said that although the press fraternity is a small group of people, yet it plays the most important role and further encouraged them by saying that they are the eye and ear of the society.
The programme was chaired by President KPC, K.V. Nurumi who also delivered the welcome address. Special number was presented by former Naga Idol Toshinaro. Vote of thanks was delivered by Joint Secretary KPC, Asa Seyie. Earlier a one minute silence was observed in remembrance of late Deepak Chetri, founding President of KPC.
