4 Sep :The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T.R. Baalu has approved a sum of Rs. 176.37 crore for road improvement works under Central Road Fund Scheme.
This amount would be spent on 34 different stretches of State Highways (SHs) and Major District Roads in various districts in the state of Maharashtra. Out of these 34 stretches, 15 stretches are from the naxalite affected area.
Some of the major projects out of these 34 projects are:
• An amount of Rs. 3266 lakh has been approved in the district of Gondia.
• An amount of Rs.4690 lakh has been approved in the district of Gadchiroli .
• An amount of Rs. 1028 lakh has been approved in in the district of Sindhudurg.
• An amount of Rs. 750 lakh has been approved in Nasik.
• An amount of Rs. 750 lakh has been approved in Dhule.
• An amount of Rs. 896 lakh has been approved in Kolhapur.
• An amount of Rs. 710 lakh ahs been approved in Thane.
• An amount of Rs. 683 lakh has been approved in Ratnagiri.
• An amount of Rs. 600 lakh has been approved in Chandrapur.
• An amount of Rs. 500 lakh has been approved in Amravati.
• An amount of Rs. 500 lakh has been approved in Yavatmal.
The other Districts where the road improvement works have been sanctioned include Pune, Latur, Raugadm Bhandara, Satara, Nagpur, Solapur, Nanded and Sangli.
