Dec 5 :Jaidev Hattangadi, a very well known theater personality died in Mumbai on Friday. He was 60. He is survived by his wife, the veteran actress Rohini Hattangadi and a son. Hattangadi had been suffering from cancer since last year and a few days back was admitted to a local hospital where he breathed his last. A devoted theater artist, Hattangadi had directed about 100 dramas in Hindi and Marathi.
He also acted in a few of them. Some of his most famous plays include ‘Poster’, ‘Sangun’, ‘Baki Itihaas’, ‘Wara Bhavani Aai Sa’, ‘Surya Ke Waris’ and ‘Kutte’. He had also received the Maharashtra State Award for his play ‘Sangun’. Hattangadi also taught at the National School of Drama. Veteran directors like Shyam Benegal and Govind Nihalani had urged him to act in movies, but Hattangadi was not keen to do so. But in small roles, he was visible in Dev Anand’s Jewel Thief and Saeed Akhtar Mirza’s ‘Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai’.
