June 24:Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said that 49 new skywalks also known as flyovers will be constructed in Mumbai, with an investment of 600 crore rupees by February 2009. He inaugurated the first skywalk at Bandra today covering different localities of the city.
It is constructed at a cost of about 14 crore rupees. He said that these flyovers will definitely help the common man and will also give place to nearly 15000 hawkers. The Bandra flyover is expected to be used by around five lakh commuters.
The Chief Minister informed that the metro rail’s first phase work has started while the work for second phase and Mono rail is expected to start in a couple of months. He said that Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority will also undertake a survey to construct a tunnel from Worli to Nariman Point soon. Courtsey : AIR
