8 Mar : In the advent of general elections coinciding with exams in 571 colleges spread across five districts in Maharashtra, the Mumbai University has postponed the dates for 608 degree course papers till May.
"A total of 608 papers for 48 degree courses for nearly 2,20,000 students are scheduled on the election days (including two days before and after) and we are working on a new time table. The exams for these papers will be postponed to May," Pro-Vice-chancellor A D Sawant said.
Elections in Mumbai is scheduled on 30th April and for Ratnagiri and Raigad districts on 23rd April.The colleges in these districts are in the jurisdiction of Mumbai University.
"Therefore, exams scheduled for seven days 21st to 24th April and 28th to 30th April will be affected," he said adding 1st May is a holiday.Besides, exams for third year BA, BSC, accounts, finance and law courses will also be affected.
"But we will work on rescheduled dates by next week," he said."It is going to be a herculean task. But students will get enough time to study and the results will be out on time," Sawant said.
