1 Sep :Ministry of Urban Development has approved Storm Water Drainage Project for Kalyan Dombivli (Urban Agglomeration) of greater Mumbai and underground sewerage for part of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Area, Maharashtra under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) sanctioned the Project in order to provide systematic storm water drainage system for disposal of rain water and prevent flooding in developed areas of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). The underground sewerage for part of KDMC will provide sewerage facilities to hundred percent urban poor. Both the Projects will be implemented by KDMC. Total Central assistance admissible under JNNURM for Kalyan Dombivli drainage is Rs.1939.09 lakh being 35 per cent of the total cost. Centre will release first installment of Rs.484.77 lakh (25 per cent) for the Project.
The underground sewerage project for part of KDMC area will take about 34 months for completion. The total central assistance admissible for this project under JNNURM is Rs.5937.17 lakh (being 35 per cent of the total cost). Release of central assistance recommended by CSMC is Rs.1484.29 lakh (being 25 per cent). The CSMC has also approved third installment for Thane Railway System Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS). Two installments of additional Central assistance of Rs.406.88 lakh had been released in January, 07 and March, 08. Third installment of ACA of Rs.203.44 lakh which is 25 per cent of total admissible central assistance will be released soon.
