Anna’s fast :Fast and Furious

By Amrita Gill, Mumbai : Corruption in politics has become a cancer across our country; it is eating our resources and unsetting our nation. Earlier the corruption was  from the lower level to the higher but now its from the higher to the all levels. The Indian society’  entire soul is corrupt.

Anna Hazzare’s indefinite fast entered the third day.It all started in in 1968 when Lok pal was first introduced, greedy politicians have let down its passing. Hazzare is championing a citizen-developed bill called “Jan” Lokpal that will create an independent body, selected by judges, citizens and constitutional authorities, with enough power to investigate and punish all corrupt politicians.Anna hazzare fast unto death for the enactment of Lokpal bill in New Delhi, has brought  a contrasting crowd of Mumbaikars  to the  streets.Known as India Against Corruption,the movement which get Lokpal bill enacted ,has a support of over  13000  mumbaikers. Many  people of the group joined the rally and hunger strike at the Azad Maidan.

A dharna was held at Mir a Road today organized by the CEO of Group of companies; Raise Ahmed.There was a call for the candle light procession tonight at all the railways stations. Thousands of college students, young executives and housewives joined a campaign that asks the government to enact an important new law to fight corruption. And the number continues to grow. Shweta ,a management student said: we are with anybody who is against corruption. Therefore we are participating in the ongoing campaign.”The number of the followers on social websites like facebook has reached lakhs.The websites like facebook,have become an important and fast medium for the updates of country on the issue, said  an activist. Pankaj Sindhwani ,an MNC executive ,described about the striking youngsters support outpour,” this campaign really reminds of the power of people earlier in dandi march, and young freedom fighters’ campaigns like jail bharo .This support  explains how aam aadmi can really make difference.

India has a proud history of people power overcoming oppression; today if we all stand with one voice we can fight this corruption that is rotting our political system.
