Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and local MP & Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Smt. Sushma Swaraj laid foundation stone for about Rs. 400 crore government medical college at Vidisha today. The Chief Minister said that the college will be named after former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Medical Education Minister Shri Anoop Mishra Public Relations Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma and Revenue Minister & in-charge of district Shri Karan Singh Verma were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that long-cherished dream is being fulfilled now. Setting up of medical college will change Vidisha district’s lot. He said that state government wishes that there should be minimum one doctor on every 5 thousand population. Arrangements are being made for this. State government is paying optimum attention to health and education sectors.
The Chief Minister said that medical college will be completed within 30 months. He directed Madhya Pradesh Housing Board to complete the work within time-limit.
The Chief Minister said that efforts are also on to open a branch of Sankar Nethralaya, Chennai in the state. He said that work is being done on Vidisha-Basoda corridor to further develop the area.
Local MP Smt. Sushma Swaraj said that Vidisha medical college will be developed on the lines of AIIMS. A 750-bed hospital will be attached to it. Besides, services of pass outs of this 150-seat medical colleges will be available in rural areas.
Public Relations Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma described the medical college as a major gift for Vidisha district. He said that due to it, the facility of a number of tests will be available to patients at local level. Local students will also be benefited by it.
Medical Education Minister Shri Anoop Mishra described the Chief Minister as a public revolution hero. He said that only he has capacity to take such big decisions. Local MLA Shri Raghavji also spoke on the occasion. Madhya Pradesh Housing Board Chairman Shri Rampal Singh proposed a vote of thanks.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and other guests also laid foundation stones for 372 works costing Rs. 85 crore 18 lakh 46 thousand. They also inaugurated 103 works costing Rs. 35 crore.
