Bhopal : Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma has said that teaching will be started in Sanchi Buddhist and Indic Studies University from next academic session. Initially, teaching will be imparted in alternative building. Shri Sharma was addressing the first meeting of the university’s advisory committee here today.
Committee members including Dr. Kapil Kapoor, Dr. Siddheshwar Rameshwar Bhatt, Prof. Shrikant Kondapalli, Prof. Jiyo Liang Lee, Dr. Lokesh Chandra, Prof. Mithila Prasad Tripathi and Prof. Krishna Bihari Pandey were present on the occasion.
Culture Minister Shri Sharma said that opposition party in the state has opposed Sanchi University saying that it is based on religion, whereas the fact is that the university will focus on studies of philosophy, knowledge, linguistics and arts. Shri Sharma urged the committee members to disseminate facts pertaining to true concept of the university to people.
Referring to the design of the university building, Shri Sharma said that its architecture should be based on ancient Indian and Buddhist philosophy and culture as well as modern art. He said that as an alternative arrangement, a space is proposed to be reserved for the university at Bhopal-based School of Good Governance. University’s syllabi and future course of action will be determined as per advisory committee’s suggestions and guidance. The Culture Minister exuded confidence that Sanchi University will emerge as pioneer university in the world with the cooperation of scholars. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured that there will be no paucity of funds and resources for the university.
Members of the advisory committee put forth a number of suggestions pertaining to concept and structure of the university, requirement of resources, strategy for implementation, shape, procedure, accessibility etc. University’s executive officer Shri Rajesh Gupta acquainted committee members with constitution and other provisions of the university.
