Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur informed that pucca houses would be provided to all the poor people living in slum clusters in urban areas. The houses will be constructed in all 360 local bodies’ limits under ‘Rajiv Awas Yojna’ in the State. Under the first phase of scheme, the works will be started in six cities of State. Shri Gaur was taking part in a meeting chaired by the Central Urban Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Sushri Shailja here at Vigyan Bhawan today.Shri Gaur informed that all preparations are being made to implement the scheme in the State. A provision has been made to spend 25 percent amount on urban poverty in all local bodies of the State. A right to possess lands in urban areas has already been implemented for the poor people since 1984. Over three lakh people have been given ‘pattas’ in urban areas.
Urban Administration Minister Shri Gaur further informed that 25 percent reservation has been ensured for economically week people under JNNURM scheme in the State. For this, an amendment has also been made in the law. After the amendment, there will be no teething-troubles in the implementation of scheme. EWS and LIG houses are costlier in the middle of city due to expensive land. Moreover, plot cannot be divided as per master plan. It is a matter of concern which will be considered, he added. The State Government is of the opinion that reservation in should be given with JNNURM and Rajiv Awas Yojan for the land.
Shri Gaur requested the Central Government to grant permission to the State Governments to formulate policy as per suggestions of Madhya Pradesh Government so that all the State Governments can construct houses as per demands with the joint efforts of Government and private agencies. Liberty should also be given to chalk out policy under ‘Rajiv Awas Yojna’ as well as JNNURM.
